At Expat Academy, we know that professional development isn’t something you tick off a list – it’s something that evolves with you. Whether you're just starting out in Global Mobility, learning about GM from a different background like payroll or immigration, or you’ve been navigating the GM landscape for years, there’s always more to learn, more to refine, and more to share.

That’s why we’re excited to be joining in with Learning at Work Week this year, which runs from 12–18 May. Organised by the Campaign for Learning, the week is all about promoting the power of lifelong learning and building strong learning cultures at work. It’s a great opportunity to shine a light on our own professional development programme – GMPD – and encourage our members and learners to make the most of what’s on offer.

The 2025 theme, Get Connected, is especially close to our hearts. GMPD is all about making meaningful connections – to expert insights, to practical resources, and to a wider community of Global Mobility and mobility-adjacent professionals across industries and borders.

Here’s what we’ve got planned for the week:

🎥 Daily Learning Spotlights

Each day we’ll be sharing a short video clip on LinkedIn featuring the Expat Academy team highlighting some of our favourite pieces of Global Mobility content. We hope these clips will give you a fresh perspective and a few ideas to explore in your own learning logs.

🏆 Points Mean Prizes

If you’re already enrolled on GMPD, there’s an extra incentive to dive into your development this week. We’ll be running a competition for the learner who earns the most GMPD points during Learning at Work Week – and yes, there’s a prize up for grabs (and possibly some bragging rights too).

💬 Drop-in Clinic

Got a question about GMPD? Looking for some top tips for completing your learning logs or wondering how to make the most of your learning? Our drop-in clinic is open to all current GMPD learners. It’s a relaxed space to check in with the team, talk through anything you're unsure about, or just get a bit of motivation to keep going. Whether you're halfway through your programme or just getting started, we’re here to help.

✨ Double Points Friday

On Friday 18th May, we’ll be ending the week with our Double Points Friday. We’ll be highlighting a few special pieces of content and anyone who engages with them that day will receive – you guessed it – double points! A great way to finish the week strong and fast-track your learning progress.

Why It Matters

Learning at Work Week is all about creating space to reflect, refocus and reconnect with learning. It’s also a brilliant reminder that development doesn’t have to be formal or time-consuming – even short, practical bursts of learning can build confidence, spark ideas and help us do our jobs better.

That’s the thinking behind GMPD. Whether you're a Global Mobility professional, a payroll expert, or someone focused on immigration compliance, if your work touches globally mobile employees, there’s a place for you in the programme. And there’s something valuable to gain.

So, if you’re part of the Expat Academy community, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating the week. Take a moment to log a piece of learning, try something new, or just reconnect with your goals.

Let’s get learning – and let’s get connected.
