Energy levels are off the scale at Expat Academy HQ. In true World Cup fashion, we’ve trained hard to deliver you the most content rich, experience enhancing month ever and all we can hear are cheers of appreciation back from our stands of fans…
We kicked off the month on the 7th June with two events running concurrently: our Presentation skills course and our “Invitation only” Global Heads of mobility Network meeting. The Expat Academy team rose to the challenge of being in two places at the same time to meet and greet our members and with the help of a fantastic work experience student from Nonsuch High School had you all registered to start promptly at 10am.
Unsurprisingly the Presentation Skills course run by our training partner Learnlight received rave reviews yet again:
“Boo was absolutely excellent. I feel as though I have learnt so much today. He did exactly what he preached, he illustrated everything so well I really took it in” Rebecca Peacock, Holdingham Group Ltd
“Exceeded expectations – really enjoyed that we got stuck into practical presentations rather than just being spoken to” Debbie Ross, NATS
“Great presenter, structure of the programme, great examples, a lot of valuable tips” Elena Krenitskaya, Cognizant
The Global Heads Network discussed a plethora of issues in depth and enjoyed an impromptu update from PwC on the implementation of the Posted Worker Directive. Having our work experience student present also forced us to articulate the purpose of Global Mobility and why you should choose GM as a career. A really useful exercise!
There was a weekend of rest for the Expat Academy team, followed by our Bite Size Briefing on 11 June 2018. A day long series of short, sharp briefings on the latest global tax changes, predictive analytics, drafting assignment documentation, international benefits, developing your personal brand and tackling Short Term Business Visitors. The feedback from the day was superb:
“Very engaging, interesting and interactive. I really enjoyed each session and have a lot of content to take back to my team!” Laura Banks, AlixPartners
If you didn’t make it and want to catch up, the presentations are available on the Expat Academy Vault.
Huddles on Tour
After a one-day rest, Emma and Myrianthe from the Expat Academy team packed their suitcases to hop off to Frankfurt and Geneva to continue our grand tour of Europe.
The Frankfurt delegates really enjoyed the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and are very keen for us to:
“Come back and make this a regular thing in Frankfurt” Marius Tollenaere, Fragomen
We also left the Geneva attendees wanting more:
“Very interesting event with plenty of time to exchange on topics relevant to each of us. I really enjoyed the breakdown between presentations and huddles. Wish we’d had a 3rd huddle session at the end” Alexiane Prapant, Richemont
What’s coming up
Taking the Expat Academy Huddles on Tour is helping us to shape our offering for 2019 so expect to see more of these next year…
Back in the UK, James and Sharon from the Expat Academy team, hosted a number of meetings with our expert training partners and network sponsors to discuss Member feedback and the content of our 2019 events. Events will begin to appear on the Expat Academy App and website as soon as they are finalised and are offered to members on a first come first served basis.
To wrap up the crazy month of June, we hosted our first Expat Academy Masquerade Charity ball in aid of our favourite charities – Venkatramen Memorial Trust and Bloodwise. We raised over £5,000 on the night and by the time the Black Eyed Peas started singing “I’ve got a feelin” we knew it had been a good good night.
We have a number of courses running over the Summer which still have some availability, click here for more information.
