As Global Mobility evolves, we must tackle new obstacles and adapt our mindset to think more broadly and innovatively. This for me is where MyGMPD comes into its own as it provides Global Mobility professionals with the platform and resources required to stay on top of these changes, while also delivering a professional accreditation at the end of it.

I’ve studied on the GMPD programme for a number of years now and have found it a valuable tool to keep my global mobility knowledge up to date and relevant for the current age. I love the variety of subjects that I can choose to look at, some are purely personal and others are relevant to my day job. It’s also nice in a very busy environment to take time out for myself and my GM journey so I put aside some time once a week to do just that and choose a relevant subject.

What's brilliant about the Expat Academy Conference...
The Expat Academy Conference in 2023 was a fantastic event. An excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge and to adopt a fresh perspective on various aspects of Mobility while also staying informed about the industry developments from my peers. The chance to network with new contacts from all over Global Mobility alongside colleagues of old was invaluable. I got a real sense that Global Mobility is an exciting field with a strong sense of support and community.

As someone who is a recent convert to Global Mobility, I can confidently say that that the GMPD program has exceeded all of my expectations and provided an excellent source of information and massively helped me develop as a Global Mobility professional. The extensive and diverse range of training materials and forums for discussion have been hugely helpful to my professional development and are both interesting and insightful in nature. I wholeheartedly recommend GMPD to anyone seeking to develop their technical understanding and professional capabilities within this fast-moving field!

I describe MyGMPD as a very enriching experience as this program has documents, webinars and material that is very useful for acquiring knowledge on Global Mobility topics. In addition, I would like to highlight that this program has the latest news that occur globally in the Global Mobility sphere and its different associated matters. I also highlight the role of my Virtual Learning Advisor from whom I received suggestions for trainings to take to be able to reach my 40 points. I highly recommend getting certified as a GMPD!

What's great about the Expat Academy Huddles...
Club 100 sessions are always really useful. It’s an invaluable opportunity to connect with peers and sense-check ideas. ‘Hot potatoes’ are fab too and a useful opportunity to discuss those current challenges and real-time problem solve. Most of all just opportunity to network (and a day away from the desk!) is great!

Why I love Expat Academy Training courses..
I loved the group discussion with a group of individuals of diverse professional background. I value a lot the real life examples and practical success stories that were shared. We focused on key factors and limitations that were impacting the project success e.g. resources shortage or difficult stakeholders and how to keep them engaged. The spreadsheet shared will help me identify clear objectives and expected deliverables of a project, monitor risks, responsibilities and overall progress.

Why I love Expat Academy Training courses..
This course was excellent, particularly because it was a project management course specifically for Global Mobility. It was really useful to hear from the speakers on the types of projects they have been involved with, how they managed those projects and suggestions/learnings that they were able to share with us. I liked the fact we have been given a template that we can use to outline our projects, and even though it may not be detailed enough to complete all project steps, it still gives an outline of the areas that need to be put into place.

What's brilliant about the Expat Academy Huddles...
In this huddle, we have discussed the views and challenges on streamlining, sustainability and survival for Global Mobility. It is interesting to hear other companies views on this, what challenges they are facing and most importantly the steps from the companies to overcome the challenges. We also discussed the importance to maintain the client and vendor relationship for an effective business partnering where we have joked this is like a “marriage” partnering. Great updates on the APAC immigration, very informative and what’s to look out in 2023. Also, great to have Uber sharing their business’ talent mobility strategy with us.
This is really great to have people from different companies, industries to share their experience and knowledge. It is very insightful and some great tips were shared which may be applied in my company's business and operations. It is also interesting to learn the technologies of each company is using where I can leverage on the experience they have to apply for RFP in future.

I had a client meeting this morning on exactly this topic, and I am so glad I read this article beforehand. It made for some great thought provoking discussions and made my client think about things she needs to review internally. MyGMPD is truly amazing and helpful platform. Being relatively new to the Global Mobility, all the materials, articles, webinars really help me firstly reconfirm the basic understanding I already have, reassure me I am on the right track, but also learn so many more new things, benefit from other companies’ and countries’ experience, and keep on top of the latest trends. What's great about Expat Academy membership..
I often referred to the benchmarking tool in the first months of my new role. There is a wealth of knowledge on all Global Mobility topics. When the topic I was researching was not previously discussed I posted a question out to the network. The network responses were very helpful and reassured me I was on the right track. I recommend to all GM professionals to refer to the benchmarking tool when managing first time or complicated queries regarding international mobility.

Joining the community of Expat Academy was one of our Global Mobility triumphs. Opening our awareness and understanding across the policy and technical aspects has been invaluable, and having the opportunity to engage both within Higher Education and across sectors for best practice has really enhanced our contribution as global mobility practitioners. Expat Academy colleagues have become team mates in our ambitious agenda to get a handle on global mobility.
More than this though, you cannot underestimate how membership of Expat Academy has developed our network of colleagues and friends within the global mobility community, right around the world, doors have opened providing support and guidance, not only related to global mobility but across HR practice. It’s practical, exciting, engaging and fun. I have valued this for my team, and for myself personally, as I have had the opportunity to further develop my own understanding and knowledge, and appreciated the opportunity to achieve the MyGMPD accreditation earlier this year.

I would just like to say that the Expat Academy team, collectively have been phenomenal throughout this Covid-19 pandemic! You have taken the time to reach out to everyone and have been so supportive. As most Global Mobility professionals are not necessarily in touch with those in other companies directly, it is certainly a time that we need to be in order to share knowledge as we are all going through similar challenges. Whilst we ‘can’ connect via other organisations and forums, I feel most Global Mobility professionals are far more comfortable doing so through Expat Academy in the various ways that you have available. In-house Global Mobility teams really need help right now as we are being asked to provide instant updates and solutions to the business, however as the challenges are new and unprecedented, it is a time that we are heavily reliant on our peers and you at Expat Academy are the gateway in allowing this to happen… not only are you sharing your own advice but are also connecting us to others in the industry. You really are the ‘enabler’ and I personally cannot thank you enough for all the support you have provided.
