The GMPD Strategy workshops are a series of 6 sessions running over the course of 2021 providing the opportunity for a small group of senior Global Mobility professionals to share thoughts and experiences, learn practical solutions to building a winning strategy and ideas on how to implement these.
The workshops, facilitated by Steve Asher, Director of Global Mobility at accountants and business advisers Moore Kingston Smith, have offered a confidential space to talk about the essential components of ensuring a good global mobility strategy, different methods of analysing an organisation’s current position and the practical application of various analytical tools.
The discussions have highlighted what ‘good’ strategy looks like and offered tips to design strategy that is relevant, actionable and effective. There is no ‘one size fits all’ and to build a realistic roadmap its crucial to look at the ‘real’ situation, not an ideal, and understand the importance of how a particular organisation gets things done. Only then can you identify the priorities and vision for the future and understand the obstacles in order to determine how to get there.
Discussion has also focused on the future direction of GM and where the priorities for the future lie. In particular, how to effectively communicate emerging themes to stakeholders such as the differing approaches to resourcing, diversity and inclusion and sustainability. Ultimately providing strategic advice to influence their decision making.
