In the wake of the pandemic the GM focus has shifted to the assignment experience. Covid-19 focussed our attention on health and well-being and duty of care, but the emerging concern is the war for talent and the need to attract and retain employees. International experience is often central to developing talent and effective preparation for an assignment is an important part of the Assignment Lifecycle.
In this session Paul Bailey from RW3 Culture Wizard explored the benefits that good preparation can bring, both to the individual and accompanying family members and to the organisation. While getting the ‘nuts and bolts’ of an international move in place is essential some of the softer areas of knowledge such as cultural awareness, language skills and providing appropriate support are equally valuable. Paul explained how a great employee experience can enhance the talent pool while helping assignees to perform more effectively. By using a number of tools and strategies, many of which are relatively low cost, organisations can improve the individual experience while also benefitting from an increased return on their investment.
In future GMPD sessions we plan to explore more steps in the Assignment Lifecycle.
