Expat Academy A guide to British citizens travelling to the EU during and after the Brexit transition period Although the UK left the European Union (EU) on 31 January 202, UK nationals may still continue to live and work in EU Member States until the end of the transition period; up until 31 December 2020 (unless further extended).

UK citizens (and accompanying family members) who have exercised their rights of residence in an EU country, before the end of the transition period, may continue to work and reside after 31 December 2020.
